1948 Rose Bowl Parade Innovated with Portable Sanitation

For the Public, Industry Artifacts,

The article shown below from December 27, 1947, in the Pasadena Star-News summarizes the jobs that Mr. Z.A. Zimmermann (the general foreman for the City of Pasadena Street Department) and his staff must complete in the coming days of the Rose Bowl Parade and the Rose Bowl Football Game. With crowds in the tens of thousands, portable restrooms were an added convenience for this event. The industry was in its infancy—but the general public was beginning to see the need for portable restrooms at special events.
