PSAI Official Statement Regarding Travel to EDGE Summit, Mexico

For the Public,

PSAI Official Statement Regarding Travel to EDGE Summit, Mexico
February 23, 2026
1:00pm EST

Hello PSAI Community and EDGE Summit Attendees,

We are deeply saddened by the recent violence affecting communities in parts of western Mexico and are monitoring this activity closely.

At this time, PSAI remains fully committed to hosting the EDGE Summit in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, as scheduled. We are communicating continuously with the resort, local partners, and service providers to ensure that all logistical and safety considerations are being addressed.

We are aware of heightened security and travel advisories affecting certain western regions, including areas of Jalisco. Importantly, these developments are geographically concentrated and distinct from Quintana Roo, where Playa del Carmen and Cancun are located on the far eastern region of Mexico. At this time, Cancun and Playa del Carmen tourism infrastructure, airport operations, and event venues continue to operate normally. That said, there are no changes to our event arrangements at this time.

The PSAI staff team and leadership are actively monitoring the situation through official channels and our on-the-ground partners. We intend to issue regular updates in the days leading up to the event and will communicate in a timely fashion should circumstances change.

The safety and well-being of our attendees, exhibitors, speakers and staff remain our top priority. We encourage all participants to:

  • Stay informed through official travel advisories and local guidance
  • Review travel insurance options appropriate for your needs
  • Follow any safety recommendations shared by authorities or PSAI event organizers
  • For U.S. travelers, consider enrolling your trip through STEP (Smart Traveler Enrollment Program) to get timely updates and quicker communication from the U.S. Embassy should the need arise. https://mytravel.state.gov/s/step
  • If you are traveling from outside the U.S., follow your regional authorities' travel guidance.

Information about the current Travel Advisory Level issued through the U.S. Department of State as of 11:30am Eastern U.S. on February 23rd:

  • The state of Quintana Roo, Mexico, is currently at a Level 2 advisory level.
You can check the official current U.S. advisory level here: https://travel.state.gov/en/international-travel/travel-advisories/mexico.html
  • Level 2 is a typical level of advisory for this area and has been the advisory level for at least the last year.
  • Level 2 is the same advisory level currently issued to many parts of Europe, including Italy, France and the United Kingdom.
  • Level 2 indicates that travelers should exercise caution and does not indicate a need to avoid travel altogether.
  • Here is a helpful resource to help further interpret travel advisory levels specific to the events in Mexico: https://www.mexicotravelandleisure.com/blog/mexico-travel-advisory-2026/

*Note: This is not an official government resource and is meant to provide potentially helpful context from a local's perspective on navigating travel to Mexico at this time. It is not official guidance. Please follow official authority recommendations and only travel as you feel safe doing so.

PSAI will continue to communicate proactively. We appreciate your continued trust and look forward to welcoming you to the EDGE Summit in Playa del Carmen soon!

Sincerely,
Veronica Crosier, Executive Director
